A very special meeting this month with the inspiring Poet Laureate of Birmingham, Adrian Blackledge. What a special treat for all those who attended. Sharing his thoughts and inspirations on holding the position for the last two years provided a fascinating insight into the process.
This was then crowned with Adrian reading many pieces from the collection of his poetry, ‘Inkling’. With subjects ranging from the dire horrors of the Holocaust Memorial Day to the amusing terrors of hiccupping for a year, words washed over engrossed faces like sweet honey with the occasional stab of harsh reality.
A privilege to hear him in the last few days of his tenure, the meeting was very appreciative of his valuable visit. After signing copies of his book for those lucky enough to get one, a resounding thank you was expressed.
The rest of the meeting was taken up with preparations for the WWB performance on the 12th November at St Martin’s church in the Bull Ring Birmingham, lots of work to be done but it will be a great event. Details are below; don’t miss it!
Thanks for the update David. Well done on your ‘creativeness’ (Design) Proud of the connection.
Thank you Elaine, its all a team effort in the end. See you soon. D.
