Art at the Ort Gallery

It was a pleasure to be part of an event ‘A Better Side of Wings’, at the ORT Gallery in Birmingham, 12 August 2017, hosted by Ahmed Magare. Members of Writers Without Borders, David Rollason, ‘Femi Abidogun and Tessa Kate Lowe plus other writers were in attendance sharing their writing to a select audience. Ahmed read several pieces from his current book ‘When Hero’s Hide Behind Curtain Ropes’. We also watched a filmed recording of another of Ahmed’s poems, ‘My Sleeping Queen’ written about his Grandmother. We then listened to him perform, ‘To Catch a Sailing Boat’, written for his Mum, who was in the audience which made it that much special for us all.

Another short film made of a collaboration of writers with Warwick University last year was also interesting, it also featured many other WWB members.

We all enjoyed the drumming in-between different parts of the event and sharing some wonderful food while seeing old friends, making new friends, and soaking up the energy in the room. Well done Ahmed and his team.

About David Rollason

I am a writer, creative, inventive, observant, but the results are for you the reader to decide. There are things in my head constantly that I need to get out and into a readable form and this for now is my preferred medium. I am a simple being with complex workings. I am a complex being with simple logic. I am really just..... me.
