It was a wonderful few hours in the green oasis that is Highbury Park, right on the edge of Moseley.
Members of Writers Without Borders had been pleased to attend the ‘Kings Heath Action for Reugees’ event and populate a Poetry Corner near the atmospheric Orchard setting.
The deliberately relaxed aventgarde performance was ably led by WWB’s very own Tessa Kate Lowe from her self-styled ‘throne’.
Many other people joined the group on the cushions and fallen log, to listen to WWB members share their writing. Some friends and visitors then contributed work of their own, and that of other well know authors.
The contributors and passing visitors enjoyed a wide range of writing, not all on the subject of the carnival itself, the plight of refugees around the world, but other lighter moments too.
All in all, a great time despite the rain trying to dampen our spirits, which failed obviously, as we just moved under the natural canopy of a ring of trees. A great time was had by all.
