Shrewsbury sends WWB to new heights of performance poetry
New venue, new experiences and now new friends made this day for those WWB members that could perform as part of the Shrewsbury 2016 Literature Festival, very, very special.
In the beautiful setting of a small, almost hidden, but exquisite city centre church building, a very warm welcome was found.
Lunch laid on and all sorts of refreshments set the tone of our generous hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and the performers relaxed and honed the afternoon’s content, putting us all in good cerebral and spiritual order for thrilling the audience.
If the previous event was a success, this had to match if not surpass it. In an intimate setting, each piece or work just seemed to melt into the audience’s ears and everything flowed and gelled into what we at WWB do so well – Perform.
With musical interludes thanks to Joe and Michael adding a different and welcome facet to the groups work, the warmth in the room was not just from the heating but the total engagement of everyone there. The copious smiles and applause drove each reader to deliver what could only be described as yet another spectacular collection of work.
Interesting conversations afterwards included offers of return visits, invitations to other possibilities and requests for both group and individuals published work and even the possibility of new group members. What could show more respect and heartfelt reception than that?
