March Meeting Report

05 March 2016WP_20160305_13_10_15_Pro

Not the AGM as expected, this meeting resolved into what the WWB family does so well, relax, enjoy each other’s company and then share the wonderful and moving writing that it creates.

After wishing members that were in hospital, health and speedy recoveries and then other less important ongoing issues, Sue pressed on through the house keeping and onto the main business.

With a well-attended group once more, we had readings and performances from 14 members. The work was as diverse as you could ever imagine; Mother’s Day tributes both moving, amusing and reflective; Issues of forced migrant transition; Fun and infidelity and it seemed, everything in-between.

WP_20160305_13_21_57_ProWe were also very pleased to welcome a guest, Elizabeth Harvey all the way from Rome. Long-time friend of our inspirational member Barbara who had been singing our praises, Elizabeth had been keen to make this stop on her trip to the UK. A published author, she read a piece of her own fascinating work and also shared the reality of living in Italy at this complex time facing both social and political turmoil. We also exchanged publications, a copy of her work ‘Seasons and Sentiments’ will be made available for members to borrow between meetings, please ask any core member if you would like to.

And so we left the welcome halls of the Hippodrome and thank them for their hospitality and support over the years.birmingham_exterior_img_020915

The next meeting will be at out New Home and what we hope will be a welcoming space in the John Lewis store in Grand Central (formerly New Street Station). Fourth floor, next to the Audio Department, we hope that this central venue and charged atmosphere will continue to feed the growing strengths of Writers Without Borders. See you all there!

About David Rollason

I am a writer, creative, inventive, observant, but the results are for you the reader to decide. There are things in my head constantly that I need to get out and into a readable form and this for now is my preferred medium. I am a simple being with complex workings. I am a complex being with simple logic. I am really just..... me.

Thank you David for the update. Well pleased that the group is moving from strength and is ‘ settling in’…. like I am, though not completely – yet! Hopefully I will be able to re-connect soon. Wishing all members the best for the days ahead. Kitty/Elaine
