Jude’s very topical poem reflects thoughts on J R R Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings
“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”
J R R Tolkien “Lord of the Rings”
Wake up Middle Earth
Be careful what’s called ‘precious’
There are vipers in the nest
The Dark Lord is arising
And putting us to the test
Shadows of our former selves
Gather in the gloom
And evil does bewitch
As Golam creeps and croons.
This seeps into each day
Homes in upon the night
Wickedness from power
Fill our thoughts with blight
Power is the evil
Some men and women seek
Just like Lord Sauron
Who gorged upon the meek
Our Earth is being raped
Pillaged and destroyed
Our Solar System’s Eden
That once we did enjoy
Going, going gone are
The habitats of life
The lungs of Mother Earth
Strangled and left to die.
See the Ring of Darkness
Spinning out of control
By those who do invest
Corruption in their souls
As in tales of wonder
Magic can fill each page
Of Darkness put asunder
By a good hearted Sage
Bilbo Baggins was brave
With a heart of true gold
Gandalf the Grey did turn
To White and so behold.
Not ever cowering
To the Dark War Lord the
Ring of Evil to destroy
And peace to be his cause.
