Saturday 7th January 2012
Our first meeting of the year kicked off to a fantastic start. Fifteen of us braved the cold to come and share our work and our stories of the holidays. Sue shared two very different poems which kept us spellbound and prompted much discussion; Jude had us in stitches with the office chair on the frozen lake. Farideh’s letter of hope touched us, as did Sindy’s rendition of her song. There was a bit of a grandmother theme going on as Fiona is now a grandmother of two months and Keisha demonstrated the use of the mike while sitting down with her slow bake cake poem. Ita shared her views of Predencia’s novel which prompted Fiona and Jude to get their signed copies. Predencia is looking for opportunities to do readings. Tessa’s allowed us a peek in her recent trip to India in a short story (which we hope will become a longer one). There was a real sense of warmth, support and fun.
There’s a suggestion that, as a group, we put on some kind of Valentine event, or join in other people’s events. What say you all?
Next month meeting on 4th February 12.00 noon – 2.00 p.m. is our Annual General Meeting. If you haven’t already done so can you please bring your subscription fees and your ideas for developing the group? Let’s have another fantastic meeting.
